Size of the finished Christmas gift card holder

I made this Christmas gift card holder for a gift card that is the size of an ATM card (3.370 inches × 2.125 inches). The size of the gift card holder is 3.7 inches by 2.5 inches, if you use similar weight yarn. In case you use a thicker yarn, your gift card holder will be bigger, if you use thiner yarn, your gift card holder will be smaller.

Pattern Instructions

For the Christmas gift card holder you can use any color combination and yarn you like. As you need small amounts from each yarn, this is also a perfect way to use up your yarn scarps from your stash.

The Christmas Gift “Box”

I started with red yarn.

Row 1:  fhdc*20 (20), ch 1 to turn
Row 2 – 19: hdc * 20 (20), ch 1 to turn

Do NOT cut the yarn.

Fold the piece at row 8.

Crochet a border along the longer side by crocheting 1 single crochet in each stich. As you folded the piece at row 8, it means that after crocheting the border for the first 3 rows you will crochet 2 rows together for the next 8 rows to create the “pocket” for the gift card. The first side is now done. Fasten off. Cut the yarn.

On the opposite side follow the same steps, but start from row 8 (the folded part). Fasten off. Cut the yarn.

The Ribbon

1 sl st in each st in row 3 and 14

ch*85

Tie the ribbon in a bow around the gift card holder.

Congratulations! Your gift card holder is now finished. We would love to see your finished ornament in our Facebook Group.
